In the setting of South Virginia, during the Civil War a wounded Union soldier Cpl. John McBurney finds himself on the run as a deserter. He is taken in and tended by the headmistress and pupils of the Farnsworth Seminary for Young Ladies. Soon, sexual tensions lead to dangerous rivalries as the women tend to his wounded leg while offering him comfort and companionship.
